SDGs Sustainable Development Goals

Empowering Teachers Through Legal Knowledge. Knowledge empowers, and understanding the law strengthens communities. The LSU College of Law brings essential legal knowledge closer to educators through “Tulong Abogado sa mga Gurong Pilipino: Legal Matters Teachers Ought to Know.” This meaningful initiative aims to help teachers better understand their rights, responsibilities, and legal concerns relevant to their profession, schools, and communities. By providing accessible and practical legal knowledge, the initiative contributes to building a more informed, empowered, and responsible educational community, equipping educators with a stronger understanding of the law to uphold rights, fulfill responsibilities, and advocate for what is just. Learn. Empower. Advocate. Inspire. The activity was held on September 26, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the LSU Waling-Waling Hall, LSU Main Campus, with Atty. Jocelyn P. Cruz, Dean of the LSU College of Law and Juris Doctor, serving as the resource person. The activity brought together educators from Archdiocesan schools, private schools in Ozamiz City, and the Department of Education, providing a meaningful venue for teachers to gain practical insights into legal matters that may arise in their professional responsibilities and educational communities. The gathering fostered meaningful learning and dialogue among educators, emphasizing the importance of legal awareness in promoting safe, fair, and responsible learning environments. Through discussions on relevant legal matters, participants were encouraged to become more informed about the rights and responsibilities that come with their roles as educators and members of the community. Through initiatives such as this, the LSU College of Law continues to extend its commitment to community engagement by promoting legal awareness, justice, and education beyond the classroom. By bringing legal knowledge closer to those who educate and serve others, the initiative helps empower teachers to make informed decisions, uphold rights, fulfill their responsibilities, and contribute to stronger schools and communities.
